Authorization for Extra Prescription Refills During Declared Emergency
Permit extra prescription refills for 29 days following bulletin
Health benefit plans licensed by the North Carolina Department of Insurance must permit extra prescription medication refills for requests made within 29 days of the bulletin issuance (unless extended by order of the Commissioner). This applies to plans defined in N.C.G.S. §58-3-167, the State Health Plan for Teachers and State Employees, optional plans under Chapter 135 Part 2, and stand‑alone prescription medication plans issued by entities licensed by the Department.
