Extra Prescription Authorization — Coverage Criteria

Required Provider Actions During the Emergency
Authorize extra prescriptions during Executive Order 315 emergency
Authorize provision of extra prescriptions for prescription medication requests received within 29 days of issuance of this bulletin, unless extended by an order of the Commissioner. This applies to all health benefit plans and qualifying prescription medication plans operating under the Department's authority during the state of emergency declared by Executive Order No. 315 covering the entire State of North Carolina.
- Applies to health benefit plans as defined in N.C.G.S. § 58-3-167, the State Health Plan for Teachers and State Employees, optional plans under Part 2 of Article 3 of Chapter 135, and stand-alone prescription medication plans issued by entities licensed by the Department of Insurance.
- Authorization valid for medication requests made within 29 days of issuance of this bulletin, unless extended by order of the Commissioner.
- State of emergency declared by Executive Order No. 315 covers the entire State of North Carolina.
