Scope and Coverage Criteria
Scope of coverage for extra prescriptions
Applies to health benefit plans and specified state plans licensed or operating under the referenced statutes;
ALL of the following
- Applies to all health benefit plans as defined in N.C.G.S. § 58-3-167.
- Applies to the State Health Plan for Teachers and State Employees and any optional plans or programs operating under Part 2 of Article 3 of Chapter 135 of the General Statutes.
- Applies to stand-alone prescription medication plans issued by entities licensed by the North Carolina Department of Insurance (Chapter 58 licensees).
- Authorization for extra prescriptions applies to prescription medication requests made within 29 days of issuance of this bulletin, unless extended by an order of the Commissioner.

Authorizes issuance of extra prescriptions for prescription medication requests made within 29 days of the bulletin's issuance (unless extended by an order of the Commissioner). This applies during the declared state of emergency for North Carolina (Executive Order No. 7).
- Authorization is valid for requests made within 29 days of issuance of this bulletin, unless extended by an order issued by the Commissioner.
- Applies during the state of emergency declared by Executive Order No. 7 for the State of North Carolina.
