Requirements and expectations for insurers accepting transfers of group credit insurance:
Re-enrollment and Carrier Responsibilities
Obtain signed application or notice before coverage effective date
Before transferring group credit coverage, the new carrier must obtain a signed application or an appropriate notice of proposed insurance signed by the debtor on or before the date coverage becomes effective; shifting the obligation to the debtor to reject coverage after the transfer is a violation of Nebraska insurance law.
- Re-enrollment must be completed with either a signed application or a signed notice of proposed insurance prior to the coverage effective date.
- Failure to obtain re-enrollment is considered a violation of Nebraska insurance law, though it does not necessarily nullify the transfer of coverage.
