Operational compliance, licensing, background checks, personnel certification, DEA registration, and subscription prohibition
Providers must meet Mississippi administrative code requirements, comply with out-of-state licensing when applicable, perform criminal background checks, ensure personnel are certified/licensed, and ALS non-hospital providers must have DEA-controlled-substance registration via an off-line medical director. Providers are prohibited from selling subscriptions/memberships to cover Medicaid copayments.
- In-state origins or pickup sites: meet Miss. Admin. Code Part 200, Chapter 4.
- Out-of-state operations: comply with licensing/permit requirements of the state where services are provided and meet other Miss. Admin. Code Part 201 requirements.
- Perform criminal background checks as required by state and/or federal law and do not employ persons or entities convicted of crimes as specified in law.
- Ensure all personnel providing emergency ambulance services are certified and/or licensed and act within the scope of their practice.
- ALS ambulance providers that are not hospital-based must have an off-line medical director obtain a DEA Controlled Substances Registration Certificate to store, issue, and prescribe controlled substances through designated ALS personnel.
- Prohibited from selling subscriptions, memberships, or similar payment packages to cover a Medicaid beneficiary's copayment.
