Remediation and Penalties for CE Shortages

Self-report remediation

If a registrant self-reports CE shortage prior to renewal:

Self-Report: Registrant sends written communication (email, fax, or mail) to the OSBP Office and receives written confirmation of receipt and verification of how many hours are required.

Remedy: Two (2) hours of CE are required for each one (1) hour of missing CE.

First offense penalties

If shortage is discovered on audit — First Offense:

Fine: $100 for each hour or partial hour of missing or falsified CE, with a minimum fine of $500.

Additional CE: Four (4) hours of CE required for each one (1) hour or partial hour of missing or falsified CE.

Live CE: At least 25% of the additional CE required must be obtained via attendance at live CE presentations, with a minimum of four (4) live hours.

Audit requirement: At the next license renewal, original CE completion certificates must be submitted to the Board for audit.

Second offense penalties

If shortage is discovered on audit — Second Offense:

Fine: $200 for each hour or partial hour of missing or falsified CE, with a minimum fine of $1500.

Additional CE: Four (4) hours of CE required for each one (1) hour or partial hour of missing or falsified CE.

Live CE: At least 50% of the additional CE required must be obtained via attendance at live CE presentations, with a minimum of four (4) live hours.

Audit requirement: Original CE completion certificates must be submitted to the Board for audit at the next three (3) license renewals.

Probation: License will be placed on probation for two (2) years.

Self-report any shortage of required CE hours in writing (email, fax, or mail) to the OSBP Office and obtain written confirmation of receipt and verification of how many hours are required. The Board will verify the required hours after receipt.

When CE shortages are discovered on audit, submit original CE completion certificates to the Board at the next license renewal (and for subsequent renewals as specified for repeat offenses) and comply with fines, additional CE, live CE requirements, and any probation orders.
