OpenPayer is powered by Trek Health's payer performance platform. Trek continuously ingests, validates, and normalizes Transparency in Coverage data alongside payer policies and other commercial payer data to create a structured payer intelligence foundation. OpenPayer uses this foundation to deliver personalized search results, dynamically generated policy pages, and tailored policy monitoring based on each user's payers, specialties, billing codes, and areas of interest. The same intelligence powers broader payer performance workflows, including reimbursement benchmarking, contract evaluation, payer negotiations, and financial decision-making.

    • Apply all applicable utilization management guidelines to routine care for members enrolled in a clinical trial.
    Documentation Required

    IRB-Approved Informed Consent

Before enrolling a member in a clinical trial, obtain informed consent approved by an Institutional Review Board (IRB) accredited by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP), and maintain the consent documentation.

    • IRB-approved informed consent must be obtained before enrollment.

    Clinical Trial Coverage Context

Clinical trials are research studies that evaluate new or emerging devices, treatments, procedures, or uses of health care services, sometimes by comparing them with currently accepted treatment. Trials generally progress through four phases: Phase I evaluates safety and dosage, Phase II evaluates effectiveness and side effects, Phase III confirms effectiveness and compares treatment options, and Phase IV evaluates effects and long-term safety after marketing. This policy addresses routine care costs associated with qualifying trials, not the investigational item or service being evaluated.
