Computerized dynamic posturography (CDP) testing is considered unproven and not medically necessary for evaluating any condition (including but not limited to balance disorders) due to insufficient evidence of efficacy, and therefore is not covered under this policy. This policy applies to UnitedHealthcare commercial plans with state exceptions; the policy does not apply to the states listed (see state-specific policies where noted).

The peer-reviewed evidence regarding CDP’s diagnostic utility and its impact on patient-relevant outcomes is weak, with a lack of well-designed trials demonstrating that CDP provides consistent, clinically meaningful benefits compared with standard testing.
