Conservative Care Requirement

Conservative care must be documented and failed before minimally invasive SIJ fusion is authorized. At minimum, documentation should show a trial of nonoperative management (eg, NSAIDs and supervised physical therapy) for approximately 6 months and failure to achieve adequate pain relief or functional improvement.
