Pancreatic Enzyme Testing for Acute Pancreatitis
Criteria for coverage of pancreatic enzyme laboratory testing (primarily serum lipase and amylase, and other biomarkers) for diagnosis and management of acute pancreatitis for members of Medical Mutual - Ohio.
Amylase was removed from CC1 and CC2 and is no longer allowed for the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis.
New criterion CC3: measurement of serum amylase DOES NOT MEET COVERAGE CRITERIA when ordered for anything other than analysis of pancreatic cyst fluid.
Former CC6 was renumbered to CC7 and amylase removed from that criterion.
