This administrative policy applies to the health plan's behavioral health providers and requires that behavioral health practitioners exchange information with a member's Primary Care Physician (PCP) to ensure continuity and coordination of behavioral health and medical care. It establishes that member-approved communications must occur in an effective, timely, and confidential manner and that practitioners obtain and document a member's signed release of information (or document the member's refusal) to permit information sharing.
