AASM recommendations (2021): Modafinil is recommended as an effective treatment for daytime sleepiness due to narcolepsy (Strong Recommendation); armodafinil has Conditional Recommendation evidence for narcolepsy. AASM guidance (2021) also provides conditional and strong recommendations across central disorders of hypersomnolence including idiopathic hypersomnia and other secondary hypersomnias.
