Supplies and medications related to intravenous sedation are considered included in the reimbursement for the procedure or facility fee and are not separately payable.

Report moderate (conscious) sedation using the appropriate CPT® Category I codes.
Do not use moderate sedation codes to report administration of medications for pain control, minimal sedation (anxiolysis), deep sedation, or monitored anesthesia care.
Intravenous sedation should not be reported with time and base units.
