Continuation beyond initial course: Documentation must clearly support the medical need for electrical stimulation for more than 12 visits to continue billing this modality.>12 visits

Some patients can be trained to use a home TENS unit in 1–2 visits (billable as 97032); after training, G0283 should not be billed as an in-clinic treatment modality.
