For outpatient settings, ductal lavage and suction collection systems are not a covered service for Commercial Managed Care (HMO and POS), Commercial PPO and Indemnity, Medicare HMO Blue SM, and Medicare PPO Blue SM. Claims for these procedures performed in outpatient facilities may be denied under the listed products.

Cytologic analysis of epithelial cells obtained via nipple aspiration techniques, including ductal lavage and suction collection systems, is considered investigational.
