Include clinical findings (e.g., focal hyperirritable spot within a taut band, local twitch response, characteristic referred pain/tenderness) and treatment plan linking trigger injections to overall management.

Clinical Background

Trigger point injection (TPI) is a procedure that involves injection of a local anesthetic, with or without corticosteroid, directly into identified hyperirritable myofascial trigger points to inactivate the point and relieve pain. Myofascial trigger points are discrete, focal, hyperirritable spots within a taut band of skeletal muscle that produce local and referred pain and often a local twitch response on needle insertion.
