Glove reimbursement criteria
Covered when ALL of the following are met:
ALL of the following
- The gloves are used by employees of an assisted living home in the provision of care for a Medicaid-eligible resident.
- The cost of the gloves is the responsibility of the assisted living facility employer and not separately billed to Alaska Medicaid by a durable medical equipment (DME)/medical supplies provider.
- The assisted living facility is reimbursed by Alaska Medicaid under an inclusive per diem rate that already factors allowable costs such as gloves, so separate payment would constitute duplicate reimbursement.
- Employers are required by OSHA (29 CFR 1910.132; 29 CFR 1910.1030(d)(3)) to provide personal protective equipment, including gloves, at no cost to employees; reimbursement to a DME/medical supplies provider for gloves supplied to an assisted living facility is therefore not permitted.
